EHS In-Person Classes Begin May 10
THURSDAY, APRIL 29, 2021
To the Everett Public Schools Community,
This week has seen the EPS successfully return our preKindergarten students and middle schoolers for full-time, in-person teaching and learning. I continue to be amazed by the work our staff is doing under challenging circumstances. I thank each and every one of our staff members for their dedication and professionalism. To our families, I continue to be humbled by your patience and inspired by your advocacy.
Things continue to move quickly, as we try to make the most of what limited time we have left in this school year. With all of our classrooms now open from Pre-K through Grade 8, we are turning our attention to Everett High School.
In that light, we are thrilled to announce that we will bring back our high school students for full-time in-person instruction beginning in May. Grade 9 students will return to school on Monday, May 10. Students in Grades 10, 11, and 12 will return on Tuesday, May 11. We are staggering the start dates so our 9th graders have a full day to meet teachers and staff and familiarize themselves with the building.
We will be sending out a Learning Choice Form to EHS students this week. As with all of our students, EHS families can choose in-person instruction or continue with remote learning.
The last day of school for EHS seniors will be Wednesday, June 2. We look forward to announcing this year’s Senior Week events, as well as the details of our commencement exercises, as soon as they are finalized.
Also, next week, we will be sending out opt-in forms for preKindergarten to Grade 8 families who want to switch from remote to in-person teaching and learning beginning on Monday, May 10. This will be our last preK-8 enrollment period for this school year.
I look forward to seeing more of you in the coming days and weeks as our students are reunited with their teachers and as our district returns to more traditional routines and schedules.
