The Everett Public Schools would like to share some details about a situation that happened today at Everett High School involving three students and one teacher.
This morning, at approximately 11 a.m. during a Biotechnology 3 class, students were working on what is called a “transformation lab.” A buffer was accidentally mixed with a cleaning solution, producing a chemical reaction that produced a small amount of potentially irritating gas. While no one exhibited any adverse effects, the teacher followed safety protocols and immediately removed the students from the room and contacted the main office.
The Everett Fire Department and EMTs were called to the school. A safety check revealed no traces of gas or harmful materials. Out of an abundance of caution, two students and a teacher were transported to CHA/Everett. The rest of the day proceeded as usual, and Principal Dennis Lynch shared an update with the EHS families after school today.
