This Wednesday, January 7, 2026, is a Late-Entry day for teacher professional development. The schedule for Wednesday is below in this message.

The second academic quarter ends on January 30, 2025.

Student Schedules (School Year 2026-2027)
Tomorrow, Monday, January 5, 2026, we will review course offerings for the 2026–2027 school year during MyCap/Advisory for Grades 9–11. Presentations will be shared with students on multiple occasions this week. Please review THIS PRESENTATION for complete details.

These materials will help students identify courses appropriate for their next grade and begin planning their schedules. Later in January, students may select courses they’re interested in for the 2026–2027 school year. During the second half of the school year, students will meet with their Guidance Counselor to finalize their schedule. Course placement will be determined by teacher recommendations, student choices, and graduation requirements.

ACCESS Test (January 13, 2026 & January 14, 2026)

The ACCESS test is a yearly assessment to determine English language proficiency for English language learners. Students who are English language learners at Everett High School will take the ACCESS test on January 13, 2026 & January 14, 2026. These will be late-entry days for non-English language learners at Everett High School.

Winter Blood Donation Drive
The EHS Health Science Pathway will host a Winter Blood Drive on Friday, January 9, 2025 in the EHS gym. Students who are 16 years old must have a signed parent/guardian permission slip to donate, while students who are 17 years or older may donate without permission if they meet American Red Cross eligibility requirements. Students aged 16 and older have received detailed information via email and in Grade 11 and 12 advisory classes. Blood donations are especially critical during the winter months, and we appreciate families’ support in helping students participate safely and responsibly. Competency Determination
EHS’ Competency Determination has been posted on our website. Students must meet the Everett Public Schools requirements for a Competency Determination to receive a high school diploma. These requirements are in addition to the outlined Graduation Requirements. Click HERE for the complete Competency Determination Policy, including translations.

School Council

Please complete the form below if you are interested in joining the School Council for Everett High School. If there is a lot of interest in joining the council, we will conduct a vote for each specific category of membership: Parents (Caretakers), Teachers (Educators),Students and Community Members. All voting information will be communicated to the School-community.

A school council is a representative, school-building-based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, students, and community members are required to be established by each school pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, Section 59C.The school council supports reviewing the school improvement plan, school budgets, as well as the policies at the school-level.

Bathroom Procedures

At Everett High School, the bathrooms are locked during the first and last 7 minutes of each class. Outside of these times, they remain unlocked and accessible. If a student needs to use the bathroom during those locked periods, the student can either:

Ask their classroom teacher to contact a school administrator to unlock it.
Ask for assistance from a staff member near the bathroom to unlock it.

While this is a new procedure for Everett High School, it is a common practice in many high schools. The bathrooms on the first floor are open throughout the day. We value your support in maintaining consistent procedures at Everett High School.

Attendance Updates

Everett High School will be eliminating the policy that assigns an E grade to students after a certain number of absences. Instead, we will implement a new policy emphasizing regular outreach to maintain consistent daily attendance. Attendance will continue to impact a student’s eligibility for summer school. Please see the updated attendance protocol below. These documents will be added to each weekly email.

Student Expectations

Personal Device Laptops and Computers

Students are encouraged not to bring personal laptops or computers to school, as every student should have a Chromebook. The school-issued Chromebook provides direct access to all necessary educational applications. If a student does not have a Chromebook, the student should contact their homeroom teacher. The technology department is located at Everett High School and can assist with any issues.
